Sidney 'Sid' Mott Obituary Sidney "Sid" Mott, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2025. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 9th, 1932 to Sidney and Minnie Mott. After his father passed away when Sid was 13, Minnie raised him and his 2 sisters. He quickly became the patriarch. At age 20, he was drafted into the US Army to serve in the Korean War. During his service, he rose to the rank of Sargent First Class. Upon his return, he utilized the GI Bill to attend and graduate from Loyola University, Chicago with a bachelors degree in Social Science. After receiving his degree, he began his career at Prudential Insurance in Chicago, where he remained for his entire 30+ year career. While working at Prudential, Sid met the love of his life, Rose, and they were married on October 1st, 1960. Sid and Rose celebrated 63 years of marriage and lovingly raised their 8 children. Sid was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He was a great provider for his family. He was always involved in his childrens and grandchildrens activities. Although he sometimes appeared tough on the outside, he was always compassionate and had a soft heart for his family.
Sidney is survived by his children Linda (Jesse), John (Lisa), Tom (Jane), Jim (Meg), Peter, Jennifer (Brad), and Kevin, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sid was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Rose; his parents; sisters, Frances and Rosemary; son, Bob, and son-in-law Jesse Morantez.
Christian Funeral Mass to be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 2nd at The Church of Saint Therese of Deephaven. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Luncheon to follow.
Full Military Service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on September 3rd arrival beginning at 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to ICA food shelf or Sharing & Caring Hands preferred.
