Stephen McCloskey Obituary McCloskey, Stephen Thomas age 84 of Minnetonka, passed away June 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his son Patrick; brothers, John and James; sister, Mary Smith. Survived by his wife of 59 years LaVerne; brother, Patrick, loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchild: Celia (son Patrick, daughter Danielle- fianc Brian, granddaughter Madelyn), Stephen (wife Lori, daughters Morgan and Kelly) Sean (daughters Megan and Kate- husband Alex, granddaughter Molly,) Margaret (husband Tim, son Ryan, son Eric, daughter Kiley) William (wife Julie, son Stephen- fianc Lanie, son William Jr, step daughters Lauren and Jen) Kathleen (husband Larry, step son Jack). Stephen was born in Shorthills, New Jersey on December 26, 1927 to Patrick and Celia McCloskey of Donegal, Ireland. He is a graduate of Seton Hall Prep, and Rutgers University (Degree in Engineering). He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. Upon returning from the war Stephen became an Officer in P.McCloskey & Sons Construction. On April 11, 1953 he married his lovely bride, LaVerne Catherine Ryan. They had seven wonderful children, 13 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Steve provided well for his family throughout his long career as a Plant Manager with Interpace Co. (New Brunswick, NJ) before retiring after 20 years of service with Cretex Co. (Elk River, MN) as the Executive VP of manufacturing. As a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus, member of the Lions Club, active member of the St. Therese Parish (36 years) and little league coach he was very committed to his family and local communities. He leaves behind many loving friends and family. He had a passion for golf, a quick wit, and took great pride in watching his family grow. He fought a tough battle with diabetes, lung cancer, and heart problems. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Church of St. Therese of Deephaven, 18323 Minnetonka Blvd., Deephaven. Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata and one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Boys Town of Minnesota Organization (www.boystown.org) in Steves honor are preferred. Take it easy kid. Facts Born: December 26, 1927 Death: June 18, 2012
