Stephen Ruff Obituary
Ruff, Stephen McAlpin Age 63, of Wayzata, died Aug. 14, 2008. Steve was a loving husband to his wife of 40 years, proud father, lifelong coach, supportive colleague and gregarious friend. Raised in Minneapolis, he played football, basketball and baseball at Southwest High School (1963)and Hamline University (1967). He earned a masters of education from the University of Minnesota, and taught and coached for the Department of Defense at U.S. bases in Japan and Germany, as well as in several Minneapolis-area districts and colleges. Steve spent much of his career in sales at Control Data/Ceridian. He has since worked as a management consultant, most recently for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. He most loved fishing for walleye on Rainy Lake, coaching his kids' teams, playing tennis on Sanibel Island, and telling stories to his many friends and family. Steve is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Wayzata, daughter Veronika Lis, of New York, NY and son, Per Jordan, of Minneapolis, as well as his sister-in-law, Mitzi Litman, nephews, Zachary (Claudia) Rustad and Jeffrey Litman, uncles and aunts, Ted Jr. and Vivian Steen and Olen and Wally McCulloch; and cousins. Memorial service Thursday, August 21, at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis.
