Sylvia Gossen Obituary Gossen, Sylvia Angel (Alferness), age 79, passed on July 8, 2019, in Maple Grove, MN. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jim Gossen; her daughter, Carmen Preston; her sons, Steve Gossen (Renee), Jeff Gossen (Caroline); her grandchildren, Kelsey, Taylor, Sarah, David, Luke, Hannah, Melissa, Jack, and great-grandchildren, Jaelynn, Perry Jr., and Preston. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Myrtle Alferness; sister, Violet; brother, Melvin, and great-granddaughter, Perris. Sylvia was born on December 26, 1939 in Princeton, MN, she married Jim in November 1958. While living in Blaine, MN, Sylvia worked for District 11 as a school nurse. Sylvia and Jim retired in Northome, MN and wintered in Boca Grand, FL where they enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, combing the beaches for seashells, lounging by the pool, and socializing with their many friends. Sylvia loved to entertain and had a way of making people happy with her contagious laugh and brilliant smile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Sylvia on Friday July 12, 2019, at 11:00 am, at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7180 Hemlock Lane North, Maple Grove, MN 55369. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A luncheon reception will follow mass. Memorial donations may be made to The Parkinsons Foundation.
