Obituary

Valeria Schering Obituary Passed away January 25th, 2013 at 95 years. Resident of Haven Homes of Maple Plain and formerly of Wayzata. Born in Cedar Lake, Val was the daughter of the late John and Millie (Prchal) Cihlar. Preceded in death by husband, Arnold and brother, Lawrence. Survived by brother, Leonard (Caroline) Cihlar, Wells; son, Mark (Jeanine) Plymouth; daughters, Jeanne Jessen, Plymouth, and Ruth Schering-Hong, Nova Scotia; nieces and nephews. Val's life centered around her family, faith, friends, and her work. She dressed generations of children at the Wayzata Children's Shop and its successors, and worked several years with the Sports Hut. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and active in their choir. A past member of the VFW and a current Auxiliary member of the Wayzata American Legion. Loving and devoted wife and mother, Val will be remembered for her unbridled kindness, generosity, and baking. She was humble and self effacing yet independent, embracing all life around her. She was proud of her Czech heritage and loved music, children, family pets and the natural world. Val will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd in Wayzata on Wednesday Jan. 30th at 4pm followed by a reception at the Wayzata American Legion. Private family interment at Lakewood Cemetery in the spring.
