Wayne Smith Obituary
Smith, Wayne H. of Maple Grove, formerly of Mound, died May 17, 2007 at age 77. Wayne was born and raised in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin where he graduated from Chippewa Falls H. S. in 1947. He earned his Bachelors from Superior State College, his Masters from UMD, and his Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. He served as Captain in the USAF during the Korean War. Wayne taught elementary school in Beloit, Wisconsin and went on to teach at Superior State and the University of Northern Colorado. He was principal at Hilltop Elementary School in Mound for 28 years. Wayne liked to cry but he loved to laugh. His God-given joyful spirit affected all who crossed his path. Wayne loved fishing the Brule, traveling with his family, watching his grandkids participate in sports/music, golfing, and reading. He is preceded in death by his parents Orville & Sue, brother Alan, and two infant sisters. He is loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Marge; children Craig (Sherry), Julie (Mitch) Peterson, Lisa (Craig) Kuffel, Brian (Mandy); grandchildren Kelsey, Taylor, Mick, Lauren, Dani, Haley, Alex, Riley, Kiera; nieces, nephews & other loving relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 10:30AM Thursday at Wayzata Evangelical Free Church (4040 HWY 101 Plymouth). Visitation 5-8pm Wednesday at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata and also half hour prior to the service at church. Private family interment in Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville.
