Meyer, William C. (Bill)

Bill was a longtime resident of Wayzata, recently moved to Independence, passed away October 23, 2026 at the age of 70 surrounded by his family. 

Preceded in death by parents Donald and Jean Meyer and Larrie Fadden, who he considered his second father. Survived by his loving wife Bonnie of 49 years, his children Greg (Annie), James (Ashley), Amy (Tim), Katie (Aaron) and his six beautiful grandchildren Shay, Emma, Rylee, Ashton, Eli and Ellie. 

Bill graduated from Wayzata High School in 1974. Later that year, followed his father into the Wayzata Fire Department becoming their first 18-year-old fireman, and serving for 42 years. In 1982, Bill became Wayzata’s first Fire Marshal and Fire Inspector until his retirement in 2018. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and going to the cabin. 

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Fairview Southdale Hospital ICU that took such good care of Bill. 

A celebration of life will be held at the Wayzata Fire Station, 600 East Rice St. at 11:00 with a visitation at 10:00 on Friday, October 30.
