Barbara Rogers Obituary

Rogers, Barbara Cashin passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27th in the arms of her husband Jim; her daughters, Lisa (Steven) Sill and Amy Laing; grandsons, Asher Howell (Syd Bandemer) and Alex Howell (Savana Naini); and her faithful cat, Jolly, who never left her side. She was also surrounded with love in spirit by her sister, Mary Jane; brother-in-law, Peter Rogers; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her hundreds of friends from around the country. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beryl & Ed Cashin; Jim's parents, Betty & Herb Rogers; and sister-in-law, Betty Rogers. Barb is in the arms of God, and has been met on the Rainbow Bridge by her 2 cats and many dogs that loved her through her almost 61 years of marriage to Jim. Barb attended and graduated from Northrup School, now known as Blake School. She went on to Skidmore College, where she enjoyed herself and friends, a little too much, so the following year she transferred to Finch College in New York City. She graduated with a masters in shopping for beautiful shoes, clothing and purses. Barb was a member of the Junior League and spent many years with her good friend Sandy Traff, raising several million dollars for the Boys Club of Minneapolis (now the Boys and Girls Club). Her favorite place to be was her beloved home at Madeline Island, where she spent her summers. She spent many winters in Captiva, FL and Palm Desert, CA, as well as in her home in Wayzata. Our loved ones leave behind spaces in the world that can never be filled, but they also leave behind love and light in each of us. Barb laughed often and much. She won the respect of intelligent people and the affection of friends and family. She appreciated beauty with her elegant grace. We all could never have made it through the excruciating time without the amazing help of Park Nicollet Methodist Hospice staff, Katie Triggs, LuAnn Indel-Paulson, and Peter Lund, Chaplain. Also, Michelle Crowell from Regional Hospices Services of Ashland, WI. A special thank you to new members of our family, Jennifer Benson and Kim Haglund without whose constant help with caring for Barb would have been very difficult. The beauty of her passing is made a bit easier in knowing she is reunited with many friends, family and angels, probably planning a party and dancing with her Dad. There will be a gathering of her friends and family at Woodhill Country Club, 200 Woodhill Road, Wayzata, Wednesday, November 7th from 5 to 7. Memorials can be made to Park Nicollet Hospice Special Needs Fund, 6500 Excelsior Blvd., St. Louis Park, MN 55426. Regional Hospice Services of Ashland, 1913 Beaser Ave. Ashland WI 54806. Madeline Island Historical Preservation Association, LaPointe, WI, 54850. Madeline Island School of the Arts Foundation LaPointe, WI 54850, or the recipient of your choice. P.S. Notice of size 7 shoe sale to follow soon
