Giroir, Bernice Segrue, 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 5, 2021. She was born August 19, 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Aaron; her daughter, Cathy (Mike) Flynn of Naples, FL and her infant granddaughter, Katie Lea Flynn. Bernie was a devoted homemaker who raised four loving daughters. She and her family moved many times following Aaron’s lengthy career with General Mills, finally settling down in Wayzata, MN. Her southern hospitality ran deep; she loved to host gatherings, to entertain family and friends and found any reason to celebrate with those she loved. She was an avid seamstress, who made countless dresses for all the girls in the family. She felt at home surrounded by flowers. She could often be found wandering the garden, pulling weeds and tending to her flowers. She loved to cook and bake, and her southern roots shined through in many of the dishes she prepared; when at Bernie’s, you never left hungry. Her grandchildren called her ‘Grannie’ and she loved to spoil them any chance she got. She would take them shopping which always included going to lunch. She would often “tuck in” money during visits and would always tell each and every one that they were her favorite with a big hug and kiss. After her husband passed away, Bernie moved to St. Therese of New Hope. She lived there for 14 years, where she made many new friends and helped prepare the chapel for weekly mass. She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Keith) Hanson of East Bethel; Christine Giroir of New Hope; Cari Giroir of St. Paul; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday, June 11th 6:00 - 8:00 pm at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 Wayzata Blvd E., Wayzata, MN 55391. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 8151 42nd Ave., N, New Hope, MN 55427.
