Charles Pearson Obituary

Charles Milton Pearson (Chuck)

passed away on May 1, 2020, in Eugene, Oregon, following a brief illness. He was born on November 3, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Curtis and Ramona Pearson. Chuck was the oldest of five children. He grew up in St. Louis Park, where he attended St. Louis Park High School.

As a youth, Chuck loved to hunt ducks, fish, play basketball, football, and hockey, and spend time with his family and its large circle of friends at the family’s summer home near Annandale on Lake John. He had many fond memories of attending Minnesota Vikings games with his father, Curt. He vividly remembered the Christmas displays at Dayton’s, hockey games on the pond near his home, delivering newspapers through snow drifts, water skiing at the lake, and building forts at the nearby nature center with his friends. He was surrounded by family love and support.

Chuck moved west to attend the University of Oregon. Chuck was drawn to Oregon by the big timbers, tall mountains, and fast-running streams. He hiked and camped Oregon’s many wilderness areas and loved introducing his Minnesota friends to its beauty. He worked as a volunteer during and after college to help bring permanent wilderness status to Cummins Creek on the Oregon coast and was involved with different environmental organizations throughout his lifetime.

Chuck met his wife Kimberly in Eugene and they shared 35 all-too-brief years together. Chuck was the anchor in Kim’s life and the home to which she returned each day. They had a mutual love of the Portland Trailblazers, the Vikings, the Oregon Ducks, and the Seattle Seahawks. Chuck appreciated all music. He was intellectually curious, read extensively, loved the arts, and had a great sense of humor. He was an excellent cook and an avid movie buff.

Chuck is survived by his wife Kim, his siblings Kurt, Todd (Melinda Greer), Lizanne Larsen (Scott), and nieces Kallie, Kathryn, Ella, and Kristin and nephews Matthew and Cole. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Ramona and brother Mark. His father Curt passed October 29. He will be interred in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. A service to celebrate his life as well as the life of his father Curt will be held on November 5.
