Obituary

Liebrenz, Darrell Earl

Of Plymouth MN passed away Sunday May 10, 2020 at Sunrise Senior Living in Golden Valley MN where he resided for the past 9 months.  The family would like to thank the staff for the great care they provided our father, especially in these trying times with Covid-19.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Liebrenz; brothers and sister in-laws, Virl (Mary), Dale (Elaine), James (Alice); wife, Helen and great-grandson, William Annen.  He is survived by his loving family of sons, David and Don; granddaughters, Danielle and her fiance, Graham Norberg, Dana Annen (Michael) and great-granddaughter, Riley Annen.

Darrell was born in the Paynesville, MN area and grew up on the family farm during the Great Depression.  He graduated from Paynesville High School in 1944 and then joined the US Army during WWII.  After the war he went to Westmar College in LeMars, IA graduating with an Industrial Arts Teaching Degree and Coaching Certificate. In college he met Helen Schaefer and they were married Oct 7, 1950.

He was a Staff Engineer at Honeywell for 37 years.  He coached youth baseball and hockey for several years.  He enjoined gardening, fishing and the outdoors and being at his cabin.  After retiring, he enjoyed playing senior softball until the age of 87 when he suffered the first of two mild strokes

He and Helen attended Grace Church in N.E. Mpls for over 60 years.  He served as head of the church board twice while being on the board for many years.

Family and friends have so many loving memories of a great man who put others first, never took credit for amazing things he did and was always offering to help others.  Due to the Covid virus there will be a very small family gravesite service with plans on a memorial gathering at a later date.  We all love you dad!
