Doris "Toots" L. (Peterson) Hanson

Age 100, formerly of Delano and Maple Plain, passed away on March 18, 2022 at Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park.  She was born on March 13, 1922 in Mound, Minnesota to Walter and Mathilda (Leaf) Peterson. 

Doris was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Maple Plain.  It was at church and in high school where her friendship grew with her future husband of 70 years, Jerome Hanson. They both graduated from Mound High School in the class of 1940. They were married in 1946. 

She and Jerome owned and operated a dairy farm near Maple Plain.  Doris also had a career for more than 40 years as a loan officer at First National Bank in Minneapolis. She will be remembered for her outstanding work ethic, outgoing personality, and love of her family and friends.

In retirement, she and Jerome wintered in Arizona. They loved traveling and visiting many parts of the country to attend Jerome’s army reunions and they never missed a class reunion. 

They enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, dice games, working jig saw puzzles and spending time with friends at the Delano Senior Center.  They were always ready to volunteer their time wherever it was needed. 

After Jerome’s passing, Doris moved to Lake Minnetonka Shores where she met many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by Jerome, her parents and brother, Bueford Peterson. She will be greatly missed by daughters, Sharon Harding (Scott), Susan Thompson (Tim); grandchildren, Beau Thompson (April), Melanie Ronneberg (Tim), Brandi Bizek (Scott) and Michelle Carlson (Shawn); great-grandchildren, Ruby and Roman Kemp, Raleigh Thompson, Madelyn, Charlie and Reese Ronneberg, Aria Bizek, Ethan, Natalie and Nora Carlson; many nieces and nephews, and extended family Cindy, Tony, Brett, Josie and Lance Gulyash.  Funeral service 11:00 AM Thursday, March 31 with visitation one hour prior at Christ Lutheran Church, 5084 Main Street in Maple Plain. Interment at Christ Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church.
