Baker, Elodie Carmen
It is with deep sorrow and everlasting love that we mourn the passing of Elodie Carmen Baker and her super special heart. Elodie passed away peacefully in the arms of her Mom and Dad on August 17, 2023, at the age of two years old, following a hard-fought battle with a misdiagnosed respiratory illness.
Elodie united her community in her journey for heart transplantation and brought hope to so many families awaiting their gift of life; yet her journey as a heart-transplant recipient is not her distinguishing characteristic. Elodie's soft, twinkly-eyed smile would warm your soul, while her quick-witted humor brought tears of joy to your eyes. She will forever be remembered for her extraordinary kindness to her family, friends, nursing team, and passersby; her love for her puppies, Charlotte ("Char") and Imogene ("Genie"); and her perseverance in the face of what at times felt like insurmountable adversity. Elodie - our brave, beautiful, forever baby girl - is and always will be a treat gifter, a miracle maker, a light giver, and a heart healer.
In addition to her Mom, Kate Baker, and Dad, Collin Baker, Elodie is survived by her grandparents, Steve and Chris Johnson of Minnetrista, MN and Julie Baker of Mound, MN. She is also survived by her great-grandparents, Bob and Candi Christians of Mound, MN; Clifford and Phyllis Johnson of Bloomington, MN; and Dorothy Baker of Eagan, MN; as well as so many loved ones and fellow heart warriors. Elodie was predeceased by her grandfather, David Baker; great-grandfather, Orville Baker; and her angel donor.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 12:00 p.m., at The Woods Chapel, 525 Leaf Street, Long Lake, MN 55356.
