Berry, George M. It is with much sadness that we announce George’s passing on November 6, 2020 at the age of 89, after a battle with Lewy body dementia. He was born in Wayzata, MN on February 6, 1931 to William and Ruth Malmquist Berry. A long-time resident of Wayzata, he volunteered on the Wayzata Fire Department for 22 years, past member of Wayzata Masonic Lodge #205, and owned Berry Auto & Body for over 40 years. George served his country in the Korean war and received multiple commendations. George and Betty enjoyed golfing, traveling and family. They hosted countless guests to their log home in Aitkin, MN where they watched their grandchildren grow and created lifetime memories for many dear friends and family. During the winter months they resided in Bonita Springs, FL, where they also had numerous friends. George is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth Malmquist Berry; wife Betty Berry and son, Bryce Berry. George is survived by his brother, William T Berry; son, Jason (Jo Lynn) Berry; daughter, Elizabeth (Dan) Strand; grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Ashley, Andrea (Ben) Horsch; great-grandaughter, Charlotte, Crystal Grimmett, Nicholas Berry and Anthony Berry. We are hoping to have a Celebration of Life in the summer of 2021. A special thank you to the Trails of Orono and Methodist Hospice, who cared for George in his final hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Methodist Hospital Hospice Fund, 6500 Excelsior Blvd., St Louis Park, MN 55426.
