We are heartbroken at the loss of James Francis Morris age 60, who passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly on March 31, 2020. Jim spent his early years in New York before moving to Minnesota as a teenager. He was a true Minnesotan and remained in the Wayzata area for the better part of his life. As a teen he played neighborhood pond hockey, which sparked a love for the sport that he shared with his son.
Jim loved the outdoors, and throughout his life was a runner, cyclist, fisherman, skier, and mountaineer. Some of his adventures included running the Twin Cities Marathon, and Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, and traveling to climb mountains such as Mt. Baker, Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier, El Pico de Orizaba in Mexico, and Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina.
Life was sweetest for Jim spent in the company of friends and family, especially his children, enjoying the sunshine, eating at the Kirk Bar and Grill, playing cribbage, and joking around with a bit of trash talk.
He will be dearly missed by his immediate family, Allie (21), Jackson (19), and the mother of his children, Katie. Jim is survived by his mother, Constance Morris of Forest City, Iowa; sisters, Cecilie Loidolt and Connie Morris; brothers, John Morris and Justin Morris, and many nieces and nephews.
Regretfully no services are planned at this time due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Rails to Trails Conservancy at railstotrails.org.
