Born on July 15, 1956 in Osceola, WI to Paul and Ellen (Butterfield) Simenstad, Jane would go on to earn an English degree from St. Olaf College and a Master of Library Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. On August 11, 1979, she married John Sherman. They raised three sons, Ian, Scott, and Brian, and one daughter, Emma.
In addition to her love for her family, Jane had a passion for financial markets. Over the years, Jane managed many funds including several investment clubs with close friends. Jane loved spending summers at her cabin in Crosslake, MN, and winters at her home in Fort Myers, FL, where she could be frequently seen walking her dog, Willow.
Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen and her father, Paul. She is survived by her husband, John; her four children and their spouses, Ian (Jane), Scott (Sarah), Brian (Chloe), and Emma (Ryan); her brother Mark; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2060 County Road 6 in Long Lake at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, her family requests any donations to be made to the Simenstad/Sherman Family Endowment Fund at St Olaf College.
