Janice Faye (Bartelt) Hilgenkamp

Janice Faye Hilgenkamp (n. Bartelt) age 86 of Plymouth, died July 11, 2021. Born July 30, 1934, Pulcifer, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents,  Otto and Gertrude Bartelt.  Survived by loving husband of 63 years, Arnold; sons, Todd (Sue), Brad (Janice) and Jon (Kim); grandchildren and great -grandchildren, Joe Hilgenkamp (Liana), McCoy, Liv, Shepard; Kate King (Andrew), Ella, Caleb, Miles; Nate Hilgenkamp (Adalee), Jacie; Andrew Hilgenkamp, Brandon Hilgenkamp, Kristen Hilgenkamp, Lydia Hilgenkamp,  Adam Hilgenkamp (Colleen), and Leah Hilgenkamp. Jan graduated from Valparaiso University.  Taught elementary school full time up until she began raising her family.  Later became a substitute teacher. She was a volunteer at Courage Center and Methodist Hospital for 28 years.  Also gave her time and talents at the various churches she attended, including choir, Sunday School teacher (even at age 85), compassion circle, alter guild, and the church garden. An avid gardener, she loved to work in the yard and be outdoors.  She was an outstanding host and cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Above all else, she had a very close personal relationship with God and was a devoted prayer warrior.  She loved being around her family and took a huge interest in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She prayed every day for her family along with others and let them know it.  One of her main prayers was that her family be strong in their faith and have a close personal relationship with Jesus, our Savior.  This was her last requested prayer in the hospital as well.  Jan was the heart and soul of our family and will be missed very much by all of us.  We all rejoice that she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Her legacy is the love she had for Jesus, her best friend, and expressing it with her love for family and joyful smile. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 20, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 115 Wayzata Boulevard West, Wayzata with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Lunch to follow the service.  Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
