age 92, of New Ulm, MN passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 23, 2021 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Jean was born in Duluth, MN on September 30, 1929 to Ruth Blowers and Willard Slaughter. She was known as Jean Ferguson, after her stepfather James Archibald Ferguson.Jean grew up in Duluth, MN and graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral High School in 1948. Later she moved to Minneapolis where she met her husband Bobbie. They married April 7, 1962 and went on to have 4 children. Together they spent many years delivering the Star Tribune in Mound, MN where they raised their children. Jean also worked as a head cook at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum until her retirement in 1990.After Bobbie died in 1991, Jean moved to Southern MN with her daughter and met her eventual fiancé, Jim Bigaouette, who passed in 2016.Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Susie, husband Bobbie, son Todd, grandson Kaatlan Jay and her fiancé Jim. She is lovingly survived by her children, Garry (Heather), Tim, and Lori; sisters, Cathleen, Frana and Terry, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata with visitation beginning at 10:00. Reception to follow. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Family requests that if you are not fully vaccinated (2 weeks post second vaccine) for Covid-19, please wear masks for the protection of others.
