Pierce, Joan Phyllis (Dye) age 90 of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away at home on October 28, 2023, at 4:10pm, surrounded by her beloved family.
“Joannie” was born in Minneapolis, MN to Marvin and Evelyn (Dorson) Dye and was the 2nd of 5 children, Donald (Mary), Kathy (Robert), Steven (Pattie), and Charles (Betty). She attended North Junior High School and then Wayzata High School when her parents moved to Minnetonka. She attended Bethel College in St. Paul where she met the love of her life, Alfred “Bud” Pierce, and they were married on June 7, 1952. Joannie was known for her strong faith, her love and devotion to Bud, and the love she had for her family. She led numerous Bible studies in her neighborhood and church. Most of her time, however, was spent loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She attended her great-grandson’s football game 3 weeks before she passed, and her last words were a prayer for her great-grandchildren. She loved Christmas and birthdays and insisted on remembering every family member on those occasions.
She is survived by 3 children, David (Jodi), Patti (Linda), and Julie (Dean), and 8 grandchildren, Peter (Joy), Aaron (Jennifer), Dan (Michelle), Ben (Courtney), Christy (Curt), Matt (Betsy), Mike (Kelsey), and Jake (Karissa). She also has 20 great-grandchildren, and we are listing their names as part of the incredible legacy she left. Grace, Sydney, Asher, Kaylee, Selah, Pierce, Harper, Dwayne, Hudson, Macklin, Henry, Tayva, Lois, Jack, Wesley, Lenna, Evelyn, Emma, Mattie, and baby #20 due in May. Joannie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, and her siblings Donald and Steven.
Her Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 22nd at 11:00am at her home church, Ridgewood Church (4420 County Road 101 in Minnetonka, MN) where she and Bud had been active members since 1978. A reception and lunch will take place afterwards. The interment will be at 2:00pm and will be for family members only.
Memorials in her honor can be sent to Steiger, a worldwide mission organization started by her son David (https://www.steiger.org).
