Obituary

Jack (John) Northup, age 94, of Deephaven, MN passed away on August 3,2023 having lived a wonderful life.  Jack was born on April 5,1929 in Des Moines, Iowa.  He was a kind and generous husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend.  He was married to his wife JoAnn for 64 years.  Jack was a graduate of St. Ambrose College.  He served as a Corporal in the Marine Corp before beginning his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  Jack worked for Sidney B. Smith & Co. and founded Northup, Haines & Associates.  We were inspired every day by his positive outlook and his love for his family, friends, and professional colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, his parents Mary and Maurice and his son, Pat.  He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Sue Knight (Tom), and Ann Simms; sons, John Northup (Jean) and Jim Northup (Biz); and daughter-in-law, Maria Nardone.  He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Megan Gehrman (Jason), Amy Heyde (Philip), Ryan Northup, Lindie Northup, Katie Bolen (Patrick) and Keegan Northup and great-grandchildren Justin and Ava Gehrman and Wylder Heyde.

A private family burial service will be held in West Des Moines, Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to The Pat Northup Scholarship Fund at Dowling Catholic High School (1400 Buffalo Rd., West Des Moines, IA 50265).
