Larry John Monskey, age 54 of Chaska Minnesota, died unexpectedly on August 1, 2023. Loving father of three children, he is survived by his daughter, Kate (Jaxon) Anderson; sons, Ben and Gabe Monskey and granddaughter, Quinn; his mother, Karen Monskey; sisters, Lori (Jon) Goetz and Lanay (Dan) Solon; brothers, Lee (Cindy) Monskey and Paul (Nikki) Monskey; nieces, Sara Janosek and Naiya Monskey; nephews, Wyatt Ferguson, Maxwell Monskey, Coleman Monskey, Paxton Monskey and Prosser Monskey. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Gerall J. Monskey and grandparents, John and Margaret Monskey and Ted and Gladys Johnson.
Larry was born and raised in Plymouth, Minnesota. He was the second born and oldest son in the Monskey Five Pack. He was always known for his red hair and big family. He graduated from Wayzata Senior High School in 1987 and completed his law enforcement degree at Rasmussen University in 2011. He worked as a printer for a few years and delivered for Huebsch then as a Lieutenant of Security for the Mall of America from 2010 to 2018. He worked for the Robinsdale Police Reserves 2010 – 2014, served as a police officer for the Lester Prairie Police Department 2018 – 2020. In 2019 he started with the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office and found his true home in law enforcement.
Larry was dedicated to his role as a deputy sheriff and loved serving his community and fellow team members. He finally found his fit and was honored to be part of the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office. Larry was so proud of his children and so thrilled to be a grandpa. He loved baseball growing up and loved to visit ball fields around the country. Larry loved photography, travel, history, and music. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family and his dog Gus. He was a fun-loving friend to many and had a heart of gold, willing to help anyone in need. Larry’s family loved him and will miss him beyond measure.
Visitation will be at 10:00am and Funeral service at 11:00 am. Reception to follow services on Friday, August 18th, 2023, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 5005 Northwest Blvd, Plymouth, Minnesota 55442
Memorials in Larry’s name may be made to the Larry Monskey Memorial Fund at the Security Bank & Trust Company - 1575 White Oak Dr, Chaska 55318
