LeRoy Undis Obituary

LeRoy Joseph Undis passed away in his home on Sunday, February 25, 2024, with family by his side. He was 88.

He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, entrepreneur, printer, hunter, fisherman, woodworker, and more. He valued hard work and personal responsibility, always put his family first, and was a good friend.

LeRoy was preceded in death by parents Dorothy and Nicholas, wife Alice, daughter Patty, brother Jim, and sister-in-law Donna. He is survived by nine children: Dave Undis, Don (Maureen Bitney) Undis, Steve (Sue) Undis, Laura (Ricky) Fee, Diane (Paul) Dzwill, Tom (Janie) Undis, Debbie (Tim) Dorr, Tim (Gem) Undis, and Jenni Undis; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brother, Ray (Ilene), and many extended family and friends.

LeRoy was born on July 20, 1935 in St. Paul, MN, the youngest of three sons born to Dorothy (Anitzberger) and Nicholas Undis. He married Alice Wolkerstorfer in November 1953. Together they had 10 children. After a few moves, the family settled in Hopkins, MN where they lived for 30 years.

In 1986 they moved to their dream home in Medina, and that’s where they stayed. Be it in Hopkins or Medina, their home was a gathering place, a site for many birthday parties, holidays, and stoop sits. LeRoy was a loving caretaker to Alice in her final years, when she suffered from Alzheimer’s.

He worked as a printer for his entire life, much of it running his own business, Custom Craftsman Printing. His kids Steve, Laura, Tom, and Tim all worked there over the years.

LeRoy was a very curious person and always enjoyed learning about new things. Hobbies throughout his life included woodworking, gardening, fish tanks, photography, playing harmonica, growing orchids, going for drives, restoring Packards, and making wine. LeRoy shared a love of the outdoors with his brothers Jim and Ray. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was keenly interested in wildlife and nature. Until his final days, he enjoyed watching birds, deer, and other wildlife in his yard.
