Cargill, Lila M.
Age 87, of Plymouth passed away peacefully at home on August 31, surrounded by her devoted daughters. Preceded in death by parents Verner and Lisa; and by Dick Cargill. Born February 1, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN. A graduate of Hopkins High School, Lila attended the University of Minnesota and received her bachelor’s degree from Metro State University at age 57. Survived by sisters, Sonja Anderson & Bergit Carlson; daughters; Kari (Nathan Anderson), Kris (Dan Endy) & Kelly; grandchildren, Dutch & Maari Endy, Jackson & Anna Bigley; brother-in-law, Herb Cargill (Linda); sister-in-law, Kathleen Cargill (Mike Busch); nephews, Todd, Reid & Robb Anderson, Erik & Zach Cargill, Josh Gnerer. Lila was an ardent advocate for peace, justice and equality, for the environment and for animals, especially wild birds. She was tireless in her support of the democratic process, principles and beliefs. She was also a big fan of the local sports teams, especially Golden Gopher football. For 27 years Lila was Assistant Director at Way-12, a chemical dependency halfway house in Wayzata, working alongside residents and families on their journey towards a new life together. Lila was the heart of her family; her bright blue eyes, warm smile, easy laugh, optimistic outlook and tender heart will be missed dearly. A private gathering and burial will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wayzata.
