Marilyn Goodrich Obituary

Marilyn Roslyn Goodrich, 83, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023 in her home in Plymouth, MN.

Marilyn was born in Red Wing, MN on October 31, 1939 to Adolph Stenhaug and Gladys Ohnstad.  She grew up in the Sogn Valley and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1957.

Marilyn met and eventually married Dallas Johnson of Cannon Falls.  She graduated from Minneapolis Business College, helped support Dallas in his teaching career and the family nursing home business.  Faith was always an integral part of her life: the family began attending Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, transitioned to Maple Grove Lutheran Church and eventually she would be a long- time member and volunteer at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley.

Family was of utmost importance to Marilyn and before she entered the workforce, she started a family and became the epitome of a caring, kind, and committed mother to her three sons:  Doug, Darren and Monte.  She devoted her time and energy instilling her kindness, hard-working mentality, loving nature, and compassion into her family.  She never missed any of her children’s events and worked tirelessly to ensure her boys were well taken care of.

As the children grew up, she entered the work force and became an invaluable member to all those she worked with and for.  She spent over 20 years working for Northwest Eye Clinic in several locations.  She met and eventually married Jeff Goodrich in 1993.  Due to Jeff’s untimely and unfortunate death, their time together was limited; however, they shared so many enjoyable memories traveling and spending time with friends.

Following a well-deserved retirement in 2004, Marilyn dedicated her time to volunteer, travel, play cards with friends, and spend as much time as possible with her grandchildren.  Mimi loved her grandchildren and never passed up an opportunity to visit and spend time with them-traveling around the country for all occasions.  Marilyn met Neil Dutcher several years after retirement and they spent so much time traveling, golfing and enjoying life.  They would spend the MN winters in Florida for many years and always enjoyed their time together.  Marilyn had many different groups of friends, and our family would like to say thank you to the countless friends she had by her side until the end.

She is survived by her three sons, Doug (Lisa), Darren (Leslie), and Monte (Andrea); eight grandchildren:  Tanner, Brayden, Sam, Seth, Sydney, Ryan, Noah, and Carson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jeff and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley on Saturday May 6, 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 1 PM. Live-streaming available at http://events.calvary.org A reception to follow. Interment at St Patrick's Cemetery in Maple Grove.
