Monica McGill Obituary

On Friday January 31st, 2020, Monica Bregel McGill, loving wife, mother and friend died peacefully at the age of 82.  Monica was born on March 11, 1937 in St. James, MN to Fred L. Bregel and Cecelia Hassett Bregel.

Monica was a proud graduate of the College of St. Catherine’s where she earned a degree in Dietetics followed by a position at the VA in Santa Monica, CA prior to marrying the love of her life.  An active member of the Wayzata community she was a member of the WayTonka Club, The St. Bartholomew Church Altar Guild,  and served as Head Election Judge.  An avid reader she enjoyed traveling, quilting, sewing and home projects.  More than anything she loved her family and was the ultimate wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law.

Monica is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. J. David McGill, her parents Fred and Cecelia Bregel, her sister Cecelia Ball and her husband Lee Ball , her brothers James Bregel and  Charles Bregel and his sons Fred and Paul Bregel and her sister-in-law Anne Giebel and her husband Arnie.

She is survived by her three sons, David and wife Rebecca and their two children Marissa and Kyle, Dr. James and his wife Debra and their two children Maggie and Michael, Tim and wife Laura and their two children Ana and George.

She is also survived by her extended family of sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Virginia Bregel, Ann and her husband Jack Adams, Lynn and her husband Phil Rusciano and their respective families as well as the remaining Giebel and Ball family members.

A Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday February 8th, 2020 at The Church of Saint Bartholomew located at 630 Wayzata Blvd East, Wayzata MN.  Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM and a reception at 12:00 PM.
