Patrick Schaale Klise
Patrick Schaale Klise, age 86, resident of Long Lake, MN, passed away at home on April 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Frances (Wambold) Klise, twin sister Kay McGee, sister Carolyn Chamberlin, and brother Gary Klise.
Patrick was born January 7, 1938, in Forest City, Iowa, and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa. He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport, Iowa, and moved to Minneapolis, where he began his 50+ year career in the consumer electronics industry. In Minneapolis, he met the love of his life, Lois Ausen. He and Lois were united in marriage on June 20, 1964, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Patrick and Lois remain lifelong members of Mount Olivet. Singing for several years in the Mount Olivet Choir was a delight to Patrick. Over their 59 years together, Lois and Patrick had travel adventures to Japan, Hawaii, Florida, France, England, and the US Virgin Islands.
Family was Patrick’s greatest joy; we all benefited from his love, interest, and care. He was curious about all people and loved to share stories. Remembering people’s names was a special knack of his. An avid reader, he enjoyed topics such as religion, history, and current events. He lived in an honorable way; his life was a testament to commitment. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Conquering daily crossword puzzles was a triumph. He enjoyed all lawn work—gardening, raking, mowing. For many years, he cared for his daughter’s horses at home and hauled manure in his antique Ford tractor. Routine chores like washing windows pleased his soul greatly. His optimistic, cheerful, and friendly personality was adored by his family.
Patrick is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Lois; daughters, Kristen (Brent) Bartsch and Theresa (Mark) Sparboe; grandchildren Jacob Bartsch and Reed (Ashley) Bartsch, Katrina Bode, Kira Sparboe and Alek Sparboe; great-grandchildren Audrey, Teslynn, and Macie Bartsch; his sister Beth Matey and brother Nicholas Klise, and many other relatives and friends.
His funeral service will be Friday, April 19, 2 PM at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, MN 55391. Visitation begins one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 20, at 12 noon for family members. Memorials may be directed to Mount Olivet Lutheran Church at 5025 Knox Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419 or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
