Richard "Dick" Oberg Obituary

 Oberg, Richard "Dick" age 81 passed away peacefully after battling cancer on January 22, 2023. Dick was born in St. Paul, MN on September 26, 1941.

He went to Oak Grove Lutheran, High School in Fargo, ND and graduated in 1959. He graduated from North Park University, Chicago, IL in 1963. Dick received his Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work, from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1967. He went on and specialized in working with depression and mediating child related divorce issues. In 2017 he completed a three year certificate in Spiritual Direction from Sacred Ground Center for Spirituality. Dick is preceded in death by wife Susan Claire Doyle; parents Earl and Marie Oberg; and brother Bill Oberg.

He is survived by partner Connie Klotz; daughters Kathie (George) Moothedan; Kristin (Kraig) Klund; Jessica (John) Florez; Jodi Jensen; stepdaughter Kathy (Brent) Wetzel-Mastel; stepson Paul (Kristin) Wetzel, and 16 grandchildren.

Dick's interests were racquetball, tennis, cross - county skiing, running marathons (Grandma's) Boundary Waters camping and long distance bicycle riding, well into his late 70's. He was a lover of most genres of music, and had a large collection of classical, folk, bluegrass and jazz. Dick was especially interested in learning life lessons from events in his life that aided him in his professional life and as a Spiritual director. He incorporated Zen Buddhist mindfulness meditation into his work.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St Luke Presbyterian Church, 3121 Groveland School Rd, Wayzata, MN 55391 February 3rd at 2 pm.

In Lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Doctors Without Borders or The Center for Victims of Torture.
