Rick Fredd Age 69 of Wayzata, MN
February 3rd, 1953 – December 19th, 2022
Ricky Dale Fredd unexpectedly passed away at the age of 69 on December 19th, 2022. He is survived by his son Brian (Jessica), his daughter Jessica, and his five grandkids (Addison, Jackson, Jane, Charlie, and Kate). He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis, and Thelma Fredd (Johnson), his brother Steven, and his daughter Sarah.
Rick was born in Kankakee, IL in 1953. After graduating from Westview High school in Kankakee, IL, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and his Masters in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University. Upon completing his Masters, Rick began his career at the new Boys Town Institute in Omaha, Nebraska in 1978. He worked there as part of a multi-disciplinary team, evaluating kids with various learning disabilities. A few years later, he changed career fields and started working as an IT Specialist with Omaha Public Schools until he retired in 2017. Many of Rick’s dearest lifelong friendships originated at OPS
One of Rick’s greatest joys was the Arts and Theatre. While living in Omaha, Nebraska he spent a lot of his time volunteering or attending shows at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Once he moved to Minnesota in 2017, he would discover how much he loved the Orpheum Theatre and even treated himself to season tickets. He truly loved sharing his tickets with friends and family to experience the shows with him. Whether he was attending theater shows or just watching classic movies on his favorite channel, Turner Classic Movies, Rick was happy doing anything that involved the Arts or Theatre.
Another favorite thing of Rick’s that brought him so many great memories was sharing meals with friends and family. He loved to meet friends and family at his favorite brunch and dinner spots, Benedicts and McCormick’s in Wayzata. Those meals often lasted many hours just chatting and catching up over some coffee, eggs Benedict or Guinness braised burgers. If he wasn’t meeting at one of his favorite spots, he was going over to one of his children’s houses for some home cooked food and some much-loved grandkid quality time, which he loved.
