Bob’s life was centered on his love for family, friends and faith. His dedication to what mattered most brought him much joy and satisfaction…even when his favorite sports teams (Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers) weren’t winning.
The time he spent with others was very genuine as he tried to make each person feel special by opening his heart and home. Our definition of ‘family’ expanded because of the special people who have lived at their home over the years. He was a valuable co-worker on many teams throughout his career. His active participation as a mentor, sports coach, team member (softball and golf especially) gave him much satisfaction (even when he had to “help” the refs do their job). Friends have commented that at an early age he was asked to be the referee to determine fairness in their games. We loved everything about him!
As a child, Bob attended Sunday school and church which started nurturing his faith. In his late 20’s Kim and Bob lived in CO and participated in many Koinonia Christian retreats where he dedicated his life to the Lord setting the course for how he would live the rest of his life. Participation in Bible study groups allowed him to better serve men in the MN prison ministry and Teen Challenge program.
He was known by many names, Bob, Bobby, Lou, Faja and Ganka and we are all more blessed to have him in our lives. His legacy of honor, truthfulness and acceptance will live on in all of us.
